Adding surnames for authors

Is it possible to add surnames? The names of the authors will be sorted wrong if Calibre doesn't know which is the surname. (Surname will be written last in some languages, like Hungarian)

Get the Quality check Plugin.
The Fix section has an item to swap Fn Ln -> Ln, Fn
or the reverse ON SELECTED books. A great tool to correct flipped names.
FWIW there is also many other checks to help find Metadata errors like these.

There are a number of tweaks relating to author names - use the Filter box in the Preferences->Tweaks dialogue to find them. And Preferences->Adding books->Reading metadata has relevant settings.

Actually I want to "teach" Calibre, which names are surnames. What you are suggesting is manual work, again and again, right?

If you mean 'teach' as in teach calibre that "Madeleine St John's" surname (family name) is not "John", but "St John", then I would do that by editing the Author sort value in the Manage Authors list.

There may be other ways but that's how I do it. You can get at Manage Authors via the Book details->Authors: context menu. See attachment.
