Using font crashes Libra2
I have several user fonts that run without any issues on my Libra2. I have tried to install (and re-install) a free to use font, Atkinson-Hyperlegible. I have the usual 4 TTF files - regular, italic, bold, bolditalic and have placed them in the correct fonts folder on my L2. I have not modified the fonts in any way to mess up the files.
Whenever I have these fonts installed on my L2, the device hangs, becomes unresponsice, and eventually reboots whenever I choose the font menu. Once these font files are deleted, the device goes back to functioning as normal. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else. |

I suspect a custom font was causing crashes.

No, I downloaded the .zip file from the Braille Institute. Oddly, the files in that archive are dated from 2020-Apr-27/v1.002 while the files from Google are dated 2021-Apr-30/v1.006 which seems a bit odd. The Google fonts naming is correct while the Braille Institute files had to be renamed.
I was not impressed with the font for two reasons. One being that my reading preference is serif fonts and the other being that Atkinson Hyperlegible (according to FontForge) has 342 Unicode glyphs while CharisSIL 6 has 2936 Unicode glyphs so a poor selection of glyphs |

The google version works OK on the L2.
I also prefer serif fonts and my favourite is caecilia/charissil/chareink but I had heard good things about atkinson hyperlegible that I was interested in seeing it in action. |

You might find the wiki page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palatino of interest, especially the section "Free and open-source versions and derivatives" which mentions URW Palladio L, FPL Neu* and Domitian as options.
See https://fontesk.com/palladio-typeface/ https://fontesk.com/domitian-typeface/ Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk |

I downloaded and used the Domitian font from above link, and used the four types (Domitian-Roman, Domitian-Bold, Domitian Italic and Domitian-Bold-Italic). These are .otf fonts.
Why is it that bold words in the book i am reading does not show bold using the said font when the bold variant is present alongside other fonts. The same with Palladio fonts in .ttf format. When i use Bookerly, bold texts are shown no problem. I really like the palatino/Domitian type but bold, italics, etc are important for me. Is there a way to fix this? https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...81#post3608181 However, I think converting first to .ttf may be necessary as I received an error when editing the .otf. I'm a mere novice but have successfully edited weights of .ttf fonts using jackie_w's instructions. |

1. The texts are really in "italics" only. 2. Other fonts (Kobo default and sideloaded ones display the texts properly as italics (even in Calibre) 3. Bookerly is the one font displaying it incorrectly. My problem now is i want to have the other fonts display it incorrectly as Bookerly as I like bold italics for foreign words like in the example ![]() |
