How to upgrade?
Can anyone kindly suggest/recommend best approach to upgrade KOReader to a new version on Kobo Sage? Can I simply run the installation script (MacOS in my case) with OCP package? Aren't old unused files left in the directories? Will I keep the configuration?

Tap at the top of the screen to the left of the hanburger or plus and the top menu option will be History and further down is Update. Tap Update and the Settings. Then tap Update channel to select Stable or Development (nightly). Go back up to Check for updates and it will start the WiFi to check for new versions. If you've not setup the WiFi, you will have to set it up and then it will check for a new version. After that it's just a matter of checking.

Oh, I didn't know that! So I can update directly from the app. Thanks a lot!

After recent firmware update I'm no longer able to run koreader (the bomb screen comes up!). Should I reinstall manually that exact version first?

Doing this via NickelMenu means you don't have to reinstall KFMon every time you update the firmware. Code:
#menu_item : main : KOReader : cmd_spawn : quiet : exec /mnt/onboard/.adds/koreader/koreader.sh |

@JSWolf
I didn’t. Anyway I installed the new stable version manually. With the new version when I try to update it says that no update is available. Taking advantage of your kindness I would like to submit another issue I encountered with koreader on my Sage. With one kepub I have, I am not able to change the font. I mean, few fonts are correctly selected and used, most of the others are selectable but not reflected and the ebook still shows a standard font, I think Palatino. What is happening? What can I check? Last edited by CyberPaul; 06-11-2022 at 08:44 AM. |

Check whether you have “Embedded Font” and “Embedded Styles” ON in the bottom menu’s last tab.

I had both set to ON. I tried to set the first to OFF with no success. With the second set to OFF I got actually the font I selected. The problem is that in that way I'm missing all the original alignments. For instance, chapter title was centered and it becomes left aligned. Why is style influencing the font? Shouldn't the first parameter (embedded font) drive the font to use?

You can ignore predefined font family without disabling the entire css with styletweaks. The one you need is in "text" -> "fonts an line height" -> "ignore predefined font families" https://github.com/koreader/koreader/wiki/Style-tweaks Last edited by pazos; 06-11-2022 at 04:35 PM.
