Main Interface Style / Color / CSS

Any way to change colors/style of the main interface (not the server style).
A dark background/light text would be easier on my eyes.

I use Linux Mint 20/mate, with Calibre 5.38.0

What happens when you change things in Preferences:Look & Feel:Main Interface? (Try the top item first; )

On the Look/Feel page I can change the Icons/Font, but don't see an option for BG color.

There are some colour related settings in the JobSpy optional plugin, they're in the Configuration dialogue - Index of plugins.

From the main menu we right click the mouse where Calibre is and we put fix on the desktop.
Something like a shortcut is created for us and on that icon we right-click preferences.
In the Order line we write: env CALIBRE_USE_DARK_PALETTE=1 caliber
We double click on this icon and if we have a black theme in the system it puts us in dark mode

Is there any chance at all that Calibre might get more built-in style customisation options somewhere down the line? Anything on the horizon for v6.0 and up? Because the colour schemes for both light and dark are, frankly, rather terrible. JobSpy helps, but it feels like a stopgap solution at best.
