Overlapping Text in Epub
Hello,
Some epubs are unreadable when I try to increase the font size. Here is an example: ![]() If I decrease the font size the words are not overlapping anymore but the characters are now very small and too hard to read on my screen: ![]() This is not the first time I encounter this problem, I had to give up reading many books because of that. Is there a way to fix it? Thanks Last edited by VideoPac; 03-14-2022 at 11:44 AM. |

That would be a fixed layout EPUB. Those are not supported in calibre and are problematic in general because they do not reflow to reflect the font, screen size, etc.

Is there ANY workaround I could use? CSS or something else? I also have the AZW3 and MOBI formats but for some reason they are even more unreadable, especially the graphics, one example: ![]() The EPUB format is still the best I have, everything is displayed perfectly when I keep the font very small... |

If what you are viewing is a reflowable epub, one other possible issue is that the line height is not set using unitless values. I.e. set line height using line-height: 1.1em instead of line-height: 1.1 as an example.
Check line-height on the Mozilla developer site for some examples. |

My guess on the issue, need to change the settings to "flow" in the viewer, as well check page layout. With all due respect, I think its just a simple setting issue or two. Prefrences....Page Layout......Put on "Flow" for scrolling. That will give you a single screen, and you can scroll the text. If your wanting double screen, like a book view. Then I may be wrong, and epup is a issue with that setting. Last edited by tym; 03-17-2022 at 01:02 PM. |

Fixed layout is closer to PDF and is also NOT reflowable. |
