Authorize for ADE No Computer

I just gave away my Libra 1 and ran into a problem. The person I gave it to doesn’t have a computer. I didn’t know that. How can she authorize it with ADE without a computer? Is that possible? I’ve looked online but wasn’t successful in finding an answer so I thought I’d throw it out here. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I'm pretty clueless about this, but there's an Android ADE app (I assume there's an IOS one, too). That doesn't do what she wants?

I'll toss in a link where someone was trying to figure out how to get the Android app to actually work:

Sorry, you need to authorise the device from ADE on the computer. It can be either a Mac or Windows machine. If it is someone you know, and want to help, you could create a second account on your computer, install ADE into that and use it to authorise the device.

But, if they don't have a computer, then it doesn't matter. They will not have a way to get books with Adobe DRM onto the device. If they are buying from Kobo, or borrowing from the library, the books download to the device and use Kobo's DRM.

Thanks @Davidfor I thought not but wasn’t entirely sure. Every single thing I found was saying to connect to your computer…. I thought about doing it for her on my pc at home or she mentioned she could do it using a library computer but I don’t know anything about how that would work. I’ve never used a library computer so I don’t know if they could install that software on a library pc.

She would only be buying from Kobo or borrowing from the library so you’re saying then she’d be ok? I thought library books required ADE authorization? It’s been so long since I first started doing this. I’ve forgotten so much of how to get started. LOL

If you borrow from the library and fulfill using synchronizing with Kobo, you will get a Kobo epub with Kobo's DRM. The only time you would need ADE is when you borrow a book that Kobo either does not have or have a different edition in which case you would need to download the book from the .acsm file and then sideload it to the Kobo.

If your friend has a cell phone that allows creating a hotspot, she should she should then be able to connect to the phone's WiFi and register the LIBRA H2O from there. She will not be able to authorize ADE or download any DRMed ePub. But she would be able to buy eBooks from Kobo and get eBooks from Overdrive as they sync from Kobo.
