6-8 Hour Sync Time
Hello everyone. I'm hoping someone can help me out with my kobo aura h20 2. Four months ago it started taking 6+ hours to sync and wouldn't download new kobo store books or overdrive books. Restarting the device did nothing so I did a factory reset. That worked initially, but the problem returned after a couple months. I did yet another reset and now the problem is occurring again. Does anyone have a recommendation for fixing this other than a factory reset?
Thanks in advance! |

I used to have the same problem syncing and I eventually fixed it after manually deleting my collections on the Kobo and my Kobo account (did the latter through the app), syncing, and then reuploading all my collections metadata from Calibre (I also pruned a bit as I was doing that, I had 180 collections and went down to 100). I don't remember exactly what the issue was but I'd found a thread that discussed this and it did work.
Before I did this, syncing through the device took literally forever but I could still sync using the desktop app. |

Hi Mathil,
Thank you so much for your response. I have a few follow up questions, if you don't mind. 1.When you added your collections through Calibre, did you have to sideload all of your books back onto your kobo as well? Or is there a way for me to add just the collections metadata, but then download my books from my device? 2. Are you able to create new collections on your kobo now, or do you need to always go through Calibre? |

- Delete the collections manually on the device, then sync (I had to do this through the Desktop app because it was way quicker than doing it on the device, it might be the same for you); - Check on the Kobo app (Home > My Books > Collections) if the collections have been deleted on your account as well; if they haven't or there are some left over, delete those manually; - Try syncing your device, it should be doing it at normal speed now; - Recreate your collections manually OR reconnect your Kobo to Calibre and upload metadata to the device to recreate the collections on the device (if you use Calibre to manage them). IIRC the issue was due to differences between the collections on the device and those on the account. I'm not sure if this is going to fix your specific problem but it did for me ![]() Last edited by mathil; 02-23-2022 at 01:38 PM. |
