Can I replace a bad Aura HD USB port?

Hi,
My kobo aura HD's USB port has been getting worse and worse to the point where it is basically unusable. I don't want to throw the device out as every other function works perfectly. Is it possible to replace this part? Has anybody done it/is there any tutorials? (replacing with a USB-C port would be even better, but probably unlikely to be possible)

Thanks,

It is easier to buy a cheap model with a broken display and replace the motherboard

how would I replace the motherboard? Currently I'm not even sure how to open my kobo's case. Also, I can't find any broken aura HDs on ebay.

From memory, the Aura HD is a little harder to open than other Kobo devices. There was a lot of talk about it when the device was first released, so a search should find it. Try looking for posts by @Ken Maltby.

The USB port could be replaced. But, doing it without damaging anything else needs some skill. Depending on what is wrong, it might be possible to reattach the port. Neither are something I would attempt as I know my skills with a soldering iron are not good enough.
