Exclamation CC won't send to Kobo app (iOS)

I open CC on my iPad, long-press the book I want to send to the Kobo app, get the icons up of places I can send the book but nothing happens when I press Kobo. Books are epub format so I don't know what I'm doing wrong?

Is there another way to send the books to Kobo or should I just get a Kobo reader?

Any ideas?

Using an iPad Pro 10.5 inch (15.1 iOS version)
CC version 2.015 (1)
Kobo latest version

Firstly, this isn't an issue with calibre. It should be in the Calibre Companion forum. Though it might be an iOS issue or a Kobo app issue.

But, why do you want to? While the Kobo ereader app on iOS works, I'm sure there are better ereader apps out there. If what you are wanting to do is sync the books elsewhere via Kobo, it won't do that. Kobo does not sync books that have not been purchased from them. And I'm not sure if the Kobo iOS app handles sideloaded books at all. I don't think I have tried it.

Not working for me either (with iPad mini 5). It used to work OK. I use the Apple Books App anyway. No problems with that and it cloud syncs with my Mac and other iOS devices faultlessly.

I've always added books to the Kobo iOS app via Calibre, that's how I read them. It's never been an issue before, I've added hundreds this way. That's why I wondered why it quit working. Kobo happily syncs books not purchase via them, I download through Project Gutenberg, upload to Calibre on my PC then transfer the books to the Calibre app on my iPad then load them into Kobo.

I've done it for a number of years, it's weird.

As I stated, this question belongs elsewhere. Because the is no "Calibre app". Any app running on iOS or Android is not a "calibre app". It is an app created that works with calibre, or the calibre library. Or is just using the name. But, is not part of the calibre product. Calibre Companion was the closest to being a "calibre app". It was developed by someone who is involved in calibre development but has since been passed to other developers. Opening a book in the way you are means that Calibre Companion has downloaded the book from calibre. At that point, calibre stops being involved. Calibre companion is (probably) using iOS functions to open the file, iOS then presents the apps the file can be opened in and then passes the file to that app. One of those steps is failing. But, unless the file has been damaged downloading it from calibre, it is not calibre that has the issues. Which is why I suggested asking in the question in one of the other locations.

But, as an experiment, I tried opening a book from the calibre server on my iPad and sending it to the Kobo app. That opened the app but the book didn't appear. When I tried again, with the app open, the book did appear in the "Recently Added" section of the home page. I tried this a couple of times with the same result. This is an old iPad Air with iOS version 12.5.5 on it. And the Kobo app is at whatever version is available for that iOS version. Maybe it has changed on the newer devices and iOS versions. Or there is a later app version. But, I would probably start in the Apple or Calibre Companion forums. You can ask in the Kobo forum, but, the Kobo apps are rarely discussed and I don't know if anyone will know more than the above.

Hmm, then I think the bigger issue here is the Calibre Companion app claiming to be Calibre itself and charging a subscription.

I usually got the result you got with the book appearing in the Kobo app.

I will take a look at the Calibre Companion forum, although I'm now uneasy about the fact it's nothing to do with Calibre.

I'm looking to get a Kobo reader to save all these problems so need to investigate the direct link between Calibre on the PC and a Kobo reader. I like Kobo, I used to collect their points and often bought books from them, which is why I use the app. I liked the fact I could add books from elsewhere to it.

CC DOES NOT claim to be Calibre.
It was (originally) developed by a Calibre CONTRIBUTOR to closely interact with Calibre.
It does not REPLACE Calibre.

I honestly didn't know this. But it seems it's defunct from the CC forum I've just been looking through. I can't use Calibre on my PC to send the books to the Kobo app, so I need an in-between bit of software on my iPad.

Configure Calibre's Content Server
Use the Browser on your device to browse your library and download you selection ;
Move the downloaded file to the App (if the app can't select the download location.

A bit tedious, but it does work.
You will not have the ability to Push books to your device, that CC's Wireless device connection offered

As to the Kobo eink readers and Calibre, they work very well together. You won't need any intermediaries. You can even update metadata and manage collections on the device automatically with Calibre.

That's exactly what I need. Now it's to decide which Kobo reader
