Elipsa on the go
I got a new PDF book I wanted to read just before my first train trip since Covid. I put Elipsa + cover in my computer bag, and discovered that it was quite stable on a definite slant. The first picture is the biggest stable angle, the second a medium angle. In both cases, that is valid as long as one doesn't use the stylus, but it supports the train's movements. I read very comfortably so for a few hours, since the table was holding the weight and the biggest angle was perfect for reading.

My preferred reading position similarly props the weight of the ereader. I'm considering eventually getting an Elipsa in part because I know I will rarely hold it.
Why wouldn't Kobo give the Elipsa a more neutral white LED considering they eliminated the warm light? That one decision infuriates me. |

Are you judging the frontlight colour based on those photo? I don't remember seeing any other photos of the Elipsa that looked like that. It's probably the camera and lighting conditions.

I didn't take those photos for the screen, but for the device position. There was snow and sun outside, and a yellowish lamp on the table that can't be turned off. Plus I couldn't manage to improve the white balance. If it had looked like that, I wouldn't have kept my beloved Sage. And if the new F/W improves battery life significantly, it will answer my main gripe with it.

That's a relief about the photos providing a skewed perspective on the lighting of the Elipsa. I still think the default colour temperature is the same cool blue as Kobo's pre-temperature control ereaders or current ones with the nighttime tint off.
My Aura One with the orange tint completely off doesn't bother me, which is what I'm basing my assumption I would be okay with the Eilpsa's lack of light temperature control on. I prefer a cooler white, but not cold blue like my Aura HD. |
