To add a specific HTML <mark> tag in the menu

Gents,

Is it possible to add a specific HTML <mark> tag such as <br/> in the editor menu (raw code text windows) ?
There are 11 predefined tags in the menu. I would like to add another one in the scrolling menu or as an icon on the vertical left (under ctrlZ to comment icons).
I did not find any relevent post in the forum and no user-defined options into Calibre.
I use the french Calibre 3.48 version with WIN 7.

Thank you for your help.

You have pointed out another reason to upgrade. Newer versions of Calibre allow you to easily add/insert any tag to the dropdown. The version you are using does not.

No features are being added to older versions (and 3.48 is OLD).

Calibre 6 is in beta

Thank you for your help.
I wanted confirmation that I was not missing a deep option.

3.48 is the last release with win7. So i am stuck.
Unless I upgrade to win10 which is in my todo list. I put the foot on the brake.
Shame on me.

If your hardware is the Limiting factor. Try Linux (I'm partial to Linux Mint: Cinnamon as it has a similar UI to W7 era) . Be sure to NOT use the Repository version of Calibre. Always use the command found on the Official Calibre download page for Linux.

BTW W10 has been replaced by W11. My hardware does not support that AT ALL.

My hardware is breathless.
Another reason is Onenote. I run ON 2003. There is not bridge to migrate to the last version that is cloud only. It' a pity. I have gigs of datas, personal, search studies etc. I want to keep them local.
I have so many Excel macros (2003) that will cause lot of crashes and headhaches. Not sure to make a good purchase with the XL latest version because of compatibility bad surprises.
Win10 seems ok but there is a control to every use. A lot of online declarations to get the full options software.
Some may say I am old school but we are far from the beginnings and the sold dreams with the personal computers. Today's computing is a dystopia.

You are right, the last stab in the back is the module TPM 2.0. I could add a chip in a free slot of my tower but the bios is outdated. It fell from Charybdis to Scylla.

I will try Mint on an old PC. And Calibre forever.

Best regards

Completely of topic, but from what you say, you're a perfect client for linux, which is going on with the old vision that the user must control his OS and his software, not the contrary. You'll have to take some other habits, but not that many. Mint is effectively a good choice, but be aware that there is some linuxes (but with rough edge) for very old PC, as antiX for example. I'm running smoothly a debian stable with XFCE on a 12 years PC (with calibre 6 on it , thank you, Theduck, for this information).

As for your old softs if you have enough RAM, you could put an old windows (XP or W7) on a virtual machine (virtualbox or other), denying acces to the net so you won't have any chance to catch a malware. I still have an XP in a VM where I run 2 old softs.

If you want to run windows softs under linux, another solution is Wine, a compatibility layer that let execute windows softs directly on linux, but not all softs are compatible.

The virtual machine trick is a solution even if you go W10 or W11, you could have a VM on it to run One Note and excel 2003.

Guilty I spoiled the forum, am I off topic ? Not too much, in two answers, theducks and yours, I got so many tips to migrate Calibre on a new OS. Mint is on an old XP x32 PC in dual boot (weight 13Gb) since one hour now. The install ran smootly. I will evaluate it and as soon as I get the net (old PC is physically too far from the plug), I install Calibre from the original site.

Best regards
