Greetings
from a complete newbie. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I like - make that LOVE to read and I love computers so if I can read my books online... it would be the best of both worlds!

Welcome, Candy. Reading on your computer is a good first start. Some people are bothered by reading on a back-lit screen is tiring. I'm not sure that bothers me, but I do find other challenges when reading on my computer -- and that is there are just too many distractions. My e-mail pings to let me know I have new mail. The solitaire games tempt me away from the book. And so it goes.
That's why I really love having a dedicated book reader. (Actually, I have two of them!) There are thousands of free books available right here at MobileRead. You will need to download and install the reader software for the various formats, but once you've done that, the entire library here is at your fingertips. You can also find free books at Feedbooks and ManyBooks. If you like Science Fiction or Fantasy, check out the books at Baen. There's a bunch of pulp fiction available for free at Munseys. Now, don't just bury yourself in books. Join in the discussions. Tell us what you like to read -- and what you don't. We're glad you stopped by. |
