KOReader - Feature request - PDF

KoReader is the best reader in the market. Nothing compares to it and I will not buy a any ebook reader with ability to install KoReader. All my kindles are jailbroken only to have KoReader.

I enjoy reading books on KoReader, with tons of features reading is fun.

Question:

In PDF document, currently in the latest stable release, ones you enable Re-flow - dictionary feature can be used. But once you enable OCR the dictionary feature is disabled. Any particular reason or feature tied to it?

Request for 2 features for .pdf format.

1. Upon enabling re-flow option - can we have 2 column reading, similar feature that is available on the ePub, Mobi format. (higher priority)

2.Once the re-flow is enabled, can we have option to change the font? Currently the PDF font is grainy, hazy and obscure if you increase the contract. The intent with above 2 features is to basically convert the PDF into EPUB on the fly or to have some kind of option to clean up the scanned pdf.

Again, the above features are good to have. I have no complaints with KoReader.

Thanks team for devloping such a good software, which makes reading a pleasure.

There's some explanation on how to use OCR here: https://github.com/koreader/koreader...-scanned-pages Primarily, the required files aren't shipped by default because they're so large and few people will use them.

But it sounds like you're enabling OCR on a document that already has a proper text layer?

Thanks for your response, apologize for the delay in response.

What have I done so far, but no change.
Downloaded - *.zip file from https://github.com/tesseract-ocr/tes...ases/tag/4.1.0

Copy Tesseract-OCR language data files (eng.*) into the koreader/data/tessdata directory.

Done with the above.

Now, is there anyway to have 2 column view once you have the reflow enabled?
this is a killer feature and I really request if you can incorporate in KoReader.

To get further greedy if you can have the option to change the font type.

Thank you very much for your help. Grateful to you and developers of KoReader. Kindle without KoReader is waste of money.

Reflow is more typically used for getting rid of columns I'm afraid. Maybe if K2pdfopt on the computer can do it, it wouldn't be too difficult to add.

Font type isn't something that can (realistically) be done on a device, even ignoring that it'd take a lot of time and effort to put together. Running OCR on a page would take many seconds. The only reason it's acceptably fast is because we detect where text is located and then run OCR only on the selected word(s).

In the Speedreading module of the KOReader, I request if it is possible to grey out the content on the page, and based on the WPM set, the text starts to change color to black font.

I have read somewhere that such functionalities can affect the battery life. I understand that, but its a functionality, that need not be enabled by the users, if they are too concerned about the battery.

Something like this:
