poke 2 random freeze and re-boot

I have put my poke 2 back to factory settings with cleared memory yet without button press it continues to display the shutdown standby re-start box then freeze. When able to shutdown find later on with back-light. Appreciate any advice.

Maybe a battery problem? Does this happen while on the charger?

Yes - plugged in the same. The battery reads a high charge for thee days although turning on for periods with internal light.

Does the power button click correctly? Is it stuck down?
If it's rooted you might even try disabling it in the key layout as an experiment.
(Plugging it in to a charger usually turns things on.)
