Collections anomaly with 5.14.1

Kindle Oasis 10th gen.

I have always liked to keep my collections sorted in order of most recently opened. Since installing firmware 5.14.1, the only option is alphabetical order or, if I choose Recent, collections mixed with random books. There is no option to have only collections showing in order of most recently accessed.
There is also now no option to get rid of the Home page and all the junk put there by Amazon.
Nor do I understand how, after installing the new firmware, my "want to read" list from Goodreads appeared on the Home page, as my kindle is permanently in airplane mode and I loaded the firmware by USB.
Am I missing something? Is this just another botched firmware "upgrade"? Or is there something out of whack in my kindle?

The Oasis is very nice to read with, but I find myself more and more wanting to ditch Amazon's part in it. Been eyeing up the new Kobos ...

If you only want to see Collections, then set Filter to Collections; you can sort by Recent or by Title. Otherwise, they’ll be ‘mixed in’ with books. You can also sort by Collection, and they’ll be at the top of the list in Title order, followed by books in Recent order. It’s possible that the latter used to have collections in Recent order, but I never have it set that way so I would not have noticed such a change.

You don’t need to go to Home. Just stay in Library and open books from there. When you close the book, you’ll be back in Library, not Home.

I don’t use Airplane mode ever, but assume whatever it is showing there was downloaded at some point in the past when Airplane mode was not on and it connected.

Well that's my point - there is no Collections option under "Filter". I can choose Collections under "Sort" - OR I can choose Recent under "Sort". I used to be able to choose Recent for Collections, and they would show in order of most recently accessed. With this option, no books would show until I opened a collection All my books are in collections.
The only option for Recent now shows a few Collections in recent order, followed by pages and pages of books before the next collection shows up. If I want only Collections to show on Library page, they will only show in alphabetical order. It's not an enormous issue, but I have a lot of them and it's convenient to have them in order of most recent.

You need to scroll the Filter menu to see Collections item: it’s all the way at the bottom.

Tomsen - I've had Kindles for years, I do know where the options are. The Collection option is at bottom of Sort menu, not Filter.
My point was that I used to be able to have collections - JUST collections - in order of most recent. No longer possible. The Recent option and the collections options are now both in the Sort menu.
If I choose Collections, I get collections in alphabetical order - 26 pages. If I choose Recent, I get collections and books all mixed together - 511 pages.

As @jhowell’s screen capture shows ‘Collections’ (to show ONLY collections) is a Filter option, which is what I was referring to.

The Sort option is named ‘Collection’ and it just means it will show collections first, followed by book items.

This is the anomaly I speak of!

Thanks for the input - I thought I was going slightly mad...

I'm thinking perhaps the device needs a spell with airplane mode switched off so it can make adjustments.

Well, connecting to Amazon made no difference. Nor did re-installing the firmware.

Is jhowell's image from Oasis or Paperwhite?

I'm baffled. Does this particular change apply only to the Oasis? Only to my Oasis? If so, why?!

In the image on the right (Filter) the scroll bar on the far right of the dialog box shows that there is one more option that you need to scroll up to see.

That wasn't there in previous version. That I didn't spot it now is (yet more) testament to my current state of mind. In my defence - grieving and moving house; chaotic times here just now...
