How to display word count under book details?

I have quite few books in html format which display a word count.

How do I get this count to display under the book details column?

Make a custom column for word count. You can then select it to be displayed in the Book Details.

Preferences -> Add your own columns

As to displaying your column in the book details, go Preferences -> Look & Feel -> Book Details and check your column in the "Select displayed metadata".

If you want your word count to populate automatically, download and install the Count Pages plugin.
