Comics/Manga full size images

I am trying to use my Kindle to read comics, and I am having an issue with margins. In MOBI format (converted with calibre) I have a left margin that is too large, and the right margin that is slightly cut off. This problem is not present in CBZ format, but CBZ is much larger file since the images are full resolution. It also is very slow at changing pages on my device. Is there any way to make the compressed images from MOBI take the full screen? Or, at the very least, remove the left side margin?

The mobi format is there because CRengine supported it in the first place. Is not improved in the same way epub/fb2 are.

A tool like Kindle Comic Converter will generate cbzs optimized for your device, so hopefully they will weight less and you'll get fast page turns.

Another way of reducing the size of images would be preprocessing them with Imagemagik and adjust them for the e-ink palette.

Note that KCC may not be geared towards KOReader (as in, it might correct for *native* margins, while we actually can use the actual screen in full).

Then again, I've never used KCC, so, I may be spouting nonsense.

I usually roll my CBZ manually with a simple ImageMagick batch conversion (usually based on a variation of this).

If you're using KCC to make a CBZ it shouldn't matter should it? It's just going to resize the images/maybe color correction.

If you make a AZW3/ePub with KCC it uses the ePub 3.0 approach to do full screen images and to handle right to left page turns. It's the same method used by manga bought off Amazon/Kobo. At least looking on Android KOreader doesn't support this?

Mobi as a format can't do full screen images.

No idea, I had a vague memory that there were margin constrainsts even on CBZ on Kindles, but it's been years since I've actually tried.

We can handle RTL navigation perfectly well in KOeader, you just have to enable it yourself, since there's no standard metadata for that format ;p.
