Kindle Paperwhite - How to highlight without popup

Just bought a new Paperwhite -- Firmware Kindle 5.12.4.
Highlighting sentences pops up a stupid menu every time. Is there a way to just underline the sentences by default and not have this OBSTRUCTIVE MENU in my face?

Paperwhite 10th Gen, forgot to mention. Aka a $120 paperweight because after 10 generations they still can't figure out the most basic sh**.

It only takes one tap to dismiss that menu. It's not something to get so worked up about. The way it works gives the other options that people use when wanting to make a note, highlight, or share. Rather than have 3-4 different actions to remember, there is just one...a touch and hold.

One tap every time I highlight something, thus breaking my concentration over and over again. There's absolutely zero reason why the pop up should be mandatory. In the android version of Kindle it doesn't pop up.
As if it would take so much effort for them to include one simple setting after this many versions.
Now I have to risk bricking my kindle to jailbreak in some software that doesn't break my attention every 2 seconds.
So yes it is a big deal.

You're highlighting every two seconds?
Odd. Your ebooks must be all highlights. Defeats the purpose in my opinion.

There is a setting to change that behavior. It's in the AA menu for recent firmware, don't remember where it is or if it is available in 5.12.4.

I don't hightlight much if at all but I turned it off because it annoyed me too.

Thanks chompop for a real answer, unlike the other apologists for Amazon who want to criticize how I use my Kindle rather than admit this functionality is flawed.

I confirm this is so on 5.13.3(my current firmware - I'm sure it's also like this on an earlier firmware)

Aa>More>Highlight Menu - toggle off (no menu when highlighting 5 or more words)

Aa --> More --> Highlight Menu
For others: that menu is also how to turn off Popular Highlights, another stupid as hell 'feature'.
They wont give us bluetooth remote support but they'll sure add a lot of useless crap.

Talking about bluetooth remote support. Though it is not bluetooth, I use this https://blog.the-ebook-reader.com/20...ther-ereaders/

It is just a stupid tool for most people and it has a very limited functionality but for my use case it is very helpful.

Thanks chompop. I'm not sure if I want to invest another $30 into this reader right now, but maybe if I chicken out on the jailbreak I'll get one of those.

Another way to turn off Popular Highlights is to switch off the wifi, this saves battery power too.
