Can't read .cbz files with special characters in the .jpg filenames
I have these .cbz files that the Forma rejects out of hand despite them being readable on Windows. It seems that the cause is non-standard characters, because after unzipping the .cbz, batch renaming the image files to just numbers, re-zipping and renaming the file and importing it again, the Forma is satisfied and I am able to read. Additionally, manga files without special characters in them do just fine. However, this is a big hassle as I have many such files with the same issue. Is there a quicker workaround?

Have you tried using Kindle Comic Converter to make ePubs out of the CBZs? Maybe that's enough to get around that issue? You should then load it on as a kepub if that works.

@JawadLeLogeur: The Kobo devices do have some file name constraints. There are maximum lengths for the paths involved as well as restrictions in the character sets used. You will need to do the renaming. There are various tools around to do this, but, I don't do it enough to be able to recommend something. Trying KCC as @salamanderjuice suggested, is a good idea. The kepubs it produces seem to work well.
You can report the problem to Kobo, and they may fix it in the future. But, I would expect it to be a fairly low priority to them (overall impact of the change, how many people have seen it, the fact there is a workaround). |

Thanks to both of you. The KCC seems to have done the trick! Very nice piece of software.
