Forma power button, how is it normally?
I bough a Forma a couple of days ago and I knew that people complained about the power button. Mine was bad to the point of me not being able to wake it up or put it sleep.
The shop that I bought it from didn't offer to replace it and didn't let me cancel my purchase. They are going to send it for repair. What should I expect from a normal power button? Is it always hit and miss, does it require a lot of force etc? |

No - only the button from the Kobo Forma is such a mess.

I had the same issue with the first Forma I bought, but since I bought it on the Kobo website I was able to return it for a replacement unit. The power button on the replacement unit works as expected, albeit just a slight bit stiff.

Serious questions:
I don't own a Forma, but I do own a Kobo Aura One - and I've always enjoyed reading on it. But am I the only one who thinks the power button on my unit is perfectly placed and perfectly functional? And, if so, that Kobo undermined their own achievement when they redesigned the power button on the Forma? |

It's why I bought the sleep cover, even if it adds a bit of weight. For the record, I liked having the power button in the back, but the sleep cover makes it bearable when I don't have to reset the device. |

So it seems "normal" to have to use a bit of force... but you get it to work every time or near every time?
I'm asking since they'll be either repairing mine or getting me a new one and I do plan to test it in the shop before accepting it. They refused a refund because "you should have tried it in the store" (but I bought it online) "or you could have tried a demonstration unit" (which they have none). |

My power button is incredibly inconsistent. Sometimes I'm hitting that thing like 4 times before it works. Sometimes it's with a lot of force, other times it's not. It's a crapshoot.

Yep, stiff but consistent over here. (... the... power button, I mean. Get your mind off the gutters!

Good point about the CC company, I hadn't thought of that, I did pay using paypal. I just opened a dispute, from experience paypal usually protects the buyer well. Now I have to wait. If a refund is issued, I'll probably look at some other ereader, a lot of people with this random issue and I no longer feel comfortable about ordering another one ![]() |

That’s unfortunate but glad I went with the Libra instead. The power button works perfectly out of the box and I actually like the placement more so than that of the Forma. Hope it’ll all work out for you.
