I'm new and need help with docx
Hi,

I'm happy to be part of the forum! I've written a book in word that is approximately 63 pages. I saved it as a doc. format. I learned about ePublishing and understand that it needs to be in docx. format, correct? The only problem is, in Word (I have Word 2007), there is no docx. option to save as. Is XML the same as docx? Does anyone know why docx is not a save/save as option in word? Thanks!

Word 2007 does allow you to save in DOCX. Try going to Save as and selecting DOCX as the format to save.

In Word 2007, the first "save as" option (Word Document) is docx format.

Thanks. I tried that, but docx isn't available as any of the choices to save as. I googled it an apparently a lot of people have the same issue. XML is a choice to save as and I'm wondering if that is the same as docx?

Out of the box, unless you save as a Word 97-2003 document (.doc), Word 2007 will save your file as a docx.

You may have modified your preferences to default to save as .doc. To fix that, in Word Options, click on Save and check the preferred save format is Word document (.docx). Though I seem to remember that Save As still showed Word document (.docx) as an option after that preference was changed.

My suggestion is reinstall Word 2007 as it seems something isn't right with it.
