Russian dictionary for PocketBook with stress marks
Hi guys, I've just purchased the PocketBook HD3. To my disappointment, despite offering a lot of dictionaries, there were wasn't a single Russian dictionary in the reader itself, and the one they provide online in support seems to be very limited and does not have stress marks.
Does anyone know where I could get / purchase a dictionary which would have stress marks and translate the words into English / Czech? I saw that it is possible to convert various dictionary formats with the converter provided by PocketBook, but it doesn't seem to work for me at all. After following all the steps, no matter what I type into the command prompt, the window simply closes and nothing happens. Not to mention the fact that dictionaries which I downloaded didn't seem to have stress marks when I opened and looked into the xdxf files, although I may have been mistaken. I'm just completely lost, so if anyone could point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it, thanks! |

As converter.exe is a command-line-tool, I would at least open a terminal to execute the command. The program usually gives a error code that will help you. At least the screen won't close on you. The command is structured as:
Code:
converter.exe dictionary-file.xdxf language-directory-name Also your topic is Russian dictionary, but your text mentions English-Czech... |

Thanks for the reply, Markismus, I'll try it later tonight / tomorrow and see if I can get it working.
About the dictionary, I meant rus-eng or rus-czech dictionary. Rus-rus would also be okay but a bit worse. I have a Russian book, I want to select a word, the dictionary would show the pronuncation and word definition in one of the three languages (eng > czech > russian). |

If you've found a dictionary to your liking, but fail to convert: Post a link to the dictionary and I'll look whether it is possible.
Could stardict-en-ru-bars-2.4.2.tar.bz2 be a good candidate? The bars could be referring to stress marks. You could also browse Stardict Dictionaries. Last edited by Markismus; 04-20-2021 at 03:11 PM. |

I looked around a little, downloaded like 10 dictionaries. I actually found one which sounded promising, mueller7 accent - this has the standard IPA for english words and the russian translations offered have the stressed letter capitalized. Unfortunately it's a eng - rus dictionary.
I suppose it's a start at least, since I can lookup the rus word, get the translation, then long press on the translation which would pull out the english - rus translation and hopefully still find the original word there. Tried few words and this works, although not the cleanest solution. It's so weird that this eng-rus would have the stresses, but one of the 10ish rus - en dictionaries I've tried so far. I'll keep looking for a better solution. Last edited by Mednes; 04-21-2021 at 11:44 AM. |
