EPUB to MOBI, problem with fonts
Hi. I made an ebook in InDesign, in EPUB, and want to convert it to MOBI in Calibre. There two font types in this ebook, both are otf fonts. I use the "embed all fonts in document" option during converting, but it doesn't seem to work. I check MOBI file on Kindle and it doesn't display those fonts. I read somewhere, that MOBI supposedly doesn't support font embedding, but when I did it in my previous ebook, few months ago, it worked.
There is also na option in Calibre to embed one specific font, and it works correctly, but it's only one font, and I need two.
Is there anything I can do?

The only thing you can do is use a graphic of your text with those fonts. Mobi does not support embedded fonts.

There are several variations of MOBI format. Those that include KF8 (azw3) support embedded fonts, others do not.

Even if a font is included it will only be used if Publisher Font is selected in the Kindle's Aa menu. Also, in the latest Kindle firmware OverrideKindleFonts must be set to true in the file's EXTH metadata in order for the option to display Publisher fonts to appear for a book.

But you still have to take into account the original Mobi format and that will not embed fonts. KF8 is not Mobi.

As for OverrideKindleFonts, how do you make sure it's set to true?

That depends on the purpose of this conversion. If it is for personal use on a newer device then that is not an issue.

If it is something being produced for sale on Amazon then it is good to be aware that the embedded fonts will not be visible to some customers. In that case using calibre for conversion to MOBI is entirely the wrong approach to use.

Calibre version 5.14 or later sets this during conversion. It will also be set if conversion is done using Amazon's Kindle Previewer.

You don't want to use Mobi. You cannot embed the fonts you want. You want to use KF8 (AZW3) as it will allow the fonts you want to be embedded. KF8 will do what you want. You will have to select Publisher Font to activate those fonts. If neither of these fonts are your min font, you'll want to embed one more font for your main font as the default main font when Publisher Font is selected may not be what you want.
