Kobo Collections sent by Calibre query

I've just got my Kobo Libra H20 and i've sent some books to the Kobo using calibre. I have the Kobo Touch Extended Plugin enabled.

Is there a way to stop calibre sending empty collections? I only selected the books I wanted to send, these belong to 13 collections but the device shows 7 pages of empty collections, so 70 collections. in the Plug in Settings I have the 'Delete Empty Bookshelves' ticked. I've synced a few times in case it needed to add them before taking them away but they are still there. Its only annoying as the collections I want to access start on page 5 of my list of collections

I think i figured out whats wrong. The collections I didn't send from Calibre today may have been created based on my last sync with Kobo for my Kobo Account. I got around it by creating a new Kobo Account, with a new email address, and then removing all the books and reloading them. Now I only have the 13 collections I expected.

If this is the case does anyone know how i remove collections created directly on a Kobo? Just in case i ever want to link another Kobo ereader to my old Kobo account.

Strictly, Kobo never creates collections. You created these in the past and then synced to the server and now they are syncing back. But, Kobo doesn't sync information about sideloaded books, so it cannot put books back in the collection.

But, the driver can do all the collection management. Selecting the option to delete empty collections will delete hem the next time you connect the device. And a sync afterwards will remove them from the Kobo server.

Hi David, thank you. I did connect my device a few times after the collections were created and the empty shelves were not deleted. I did have the setting to delete empty shelves ticked. Plus at least four of the collections are not in Calibre, those were created directly on my previous Kobo e-reader. I can see how to create a collection on the Kobo, but not how to delete one.

It’s a mute point for my mew Libra as I’ve created a separate account for that device and will not be doing any collection maintenance directly on the Kobo, or buying any ebooks on that account, I just wondered how I could get rid of those collections if I ever link another Kobo e-reader to my previous account.

The collections can sometimes appear not empty, but have purchased books in them that haven't downloaded. There can also be some interesting things happen when you have multiple devices and syncing going on. And it doesn't matter if the collection is made by calibre or directly on the device. There is no difference in future behaviour.

To delete a collection on the device, long press on it in the list. This displays a menu and it has a delete option.

I signed into my old account this morning, deleted the collections, and resynced. Hopefully they are all gone now. Thanks again for helping.
