How to get Kobo Auro to display special characters?
I have an epub and it looks fine in Calibre but on the kobo the special characters just show up as boxes.
I tried all the fonts that are included in the kobo but nothing works. here is the source from the epub.
[You have joined the group chat, do say hello to the other group members! 😉] A smiley face was even attached by the system.
or
❄️❄️❄️
Just boxes for those smiley or symbols on my kobo I have also tried installing some extra fonts on my kobo, charis, literati and ember. Still boxes on kobo. |

Code2000, Arial Unicode MS, DejaVu, Doulos SIL, Linux Libertine, Lucida Sans Unicode, TITUS Cyberbit Basic, Universalia
Code2000 absolutely supports everything, the rest ... probably not all symbols. for emoji ... https://github.com/MorbZ/OpenSansEmoji Last edited by Semwize; 02-23-2021 at 03:16 PM. |

I meant I had tried all the default fonts on the Kobo. On the kobo Code2000 works for the snowflake ❄️, but not the smiley faces. OpenSansEmoji did work for the faces 😭, but not the snowflake Is there a way to get the kobo to use multiple fonts for one book? |

I have listed above the fonts that should help you http://xahlee.info/comp/unicode_font_download.html Will reflect everything. Choose the most suitable for you personally. code2000 was created earlier than emoji appeared ![]() Last edited by Semwize; 02-23-2021 at 04:54 PM. |

Thanks!
Incase anyone else ever reading this has this problem with a weird story with their kobo, Symbola worked, http://xahlee.info/comp/i/Symbola.zip Nothing else actually had all the special characters AND the emojis. But in the end I liked the blackness of the https://github.com/MorbZ/OpenSansEmoji font. Symbola looked a bit gray on my kobo, and the only thing the snowflake was used for was scene breaks so I just did a global find and replace it to regular *** |

@ianmacdo
Personally, if I come across glyphs in a ebook that my favorite font does not contain, for reading use replacements on pictures. In your case: Can, of course, add glyphs to the font, but this is already superfluous ... |
