Connect aura one to Calibre by Wifi
Hi, Long time since I've been on here.
Please excuse me as I am sure this has been covered, but I find nothing clear in the faq's for a walk thro' on how to transfer ebooks from Calibre to the kobo aura one via Wifi. I've always used via USB cable but as the micro USB is getting flaky I wondered if this was possible somehow. Cheers to all Rog |

In the meantime I have been reading the Koreader posts, as I thought that may be the way to go. But I just want the easiest solution to Wifi transfer so I can plug a Qi card into the failing micro usb and leave it there. Rog |

The WiFi connection choices for downloading books are:
There is another one that has syncing to Dropbox or some other cloud providers. The name escapes me at the moment and I'm not sure of the status. And of course, as soon as I post this, someone will remind me of the name and the other methods I have forgotten ![]() You would also be able to use telnet to the device and then FTP or similar to copy the books. You would then need to trigger nickel to import the books. I think NickelMenu has a method to do this. I have no personal experience beyond syncing to the Kobo store and occasional testing of the browser. I know the other methods exist and work, but, haven't had any need to try them. |

I think to trigger nickel to import after FTP, you need to connect to a computer and disconnect, without doing anything else.

There is also an experimental feature in Calibre-Web to use it (Calibre-Web) as a replacement for the Kobo Store. I haven't tried that feature myself.

Absolutely Fantastic!! it does exactly what I wanted on the Glo. Grateful thanks and Kudos to sherman. ![]() As I said this will leave a QI wireless charging adapter card in the ageing micro USB on the Aura one, instead of continual plugging / unplugging for charging / Calibre book transfer. Update now working on the Aura one also. Functions exactly as though the USB cable was plugged in. Wireless charging a great addition. Cheers to all, a very happy Last edited by roger the rabbit; 02-13-2021 at 06:04 AM. Reason: Update |

I just use a free share via http app wirelessly from phone to Kobo browser. Books show up in stock menu same as others. Never connected to computer.

I've been running my aura one wirelessly for about a year now. I have the same QI charger setup but I use Koreader and WinSCP for file transfer. It's surprising how little functionality you lose with no usb port.

I've got a question... do KoboUtilities/KoboTouchExtended driver work with this method?

Nope, that's one of the downside of this approach for existing complex Calibre setups.
(That said, UNCaGED itself *will* do some of the work the driver does, so, what you actually lose depends entirely on what you actually rely on in the driver ![]() |
