Huge battery drain on PW2, FW 5.12.2
Just got done updating my Kindle's library and upgrading to the latest firmware. After updating to 5.12.2, my Kindle dropped from 100% to 54% charge in ~36 hours, without me even using it. Just now on my lunch break at work, I read with backlight completely off for ~30 minutes, and the battery dropped from 54% to 46%.

I have no hacks installed, am running in airplane mode, no news subscriptions or anything like that. My books are all in .azw3 format and synced with Calibre.

Is my Kindle's battery fried?

Maybe, since it is old, but it might be stuck indexing a book, or if you added a lot of books, not finished indexing yet.

FWIW, the book I'm currently reading is stuck saying 'read,' even though when I open it, it opens to where I left off the last time.

I have less than 200 books on there, so I doubt it's still indexing, but I will follow the steps in the thread you linked to see if it's getting stuck somewhere.

The only other thing I can think of to try is to do a restart (by pressing power button until a menu pops up and select restart). Some program may be in a bad state and a restart will put things right again.
