Kobo Glo HD: Red led, not responding

Hello,

I have an issue with my Kobo Glo HD. It fell to the ground and now I can not start it and the led stays red

I tried to charge it >24h, manual factory reset and replace the SD card with a new firmware image burned on it. The led is still red.

On the front face, I see no damage on the screen.

I could buy a new battery or screen and replace it but I'm not sure it will work.

Can you help me to troubleshoot this ?

You can desolder the wires from the battery and connect them to a power supply of 3.5-4.2V to make sure its not the battery. Though i think thats not the culprit, never heard of a fall killing the battery.
Disconnect and then reconnect all the flex cables, maybe one dislodged. Just be carefull with the connector locks on the wide ones, pull them up using 2 fingernails or at least make sure you pull from the middle, as theyre easy to break if you pull just from one side.

It's not the battery, I tried with an other power supply and I have the same result. I also tried to reconnect all cables.
I think I will buy a Kindle

If you drop a Kindle, you can also break it. Kindles use the same glass backed screen that your Glo HD used. If you buy a Kobo Forma, it will take a fall much better then a Kindle or any other Kindle because the screen used is a plastic backed screen.

You are right but it is just a matter of price for me. I'm not a big reader and the basic Kindle is cheaper.
