KoReader settings to optimize battery life

I run KoReader on my Kobo Clara HD and notice some, but not severe, battery drain. For instance, putting the Kobo in sleep mode over night drains the battery about 4%, reading an epub for an hour drains about 3% on average.

Are there specific settings or plugins I could optimize to improve battery life, for instance, possible settings about background scanning, choosing specific screensaver settings or disabling some features, etc.?

Many thanks for your inputs.

Nothing happens when the device's asleep, so there's not much you can do about that unless something is actively wreaking havoc here (check the logs, it'll be verbose on that front).

At runtime, nothing much happens in the background either. Disabling plugins you don't use is a good idea nonetheless, but it'll change nearly zilch, it's mainly in order to have a clearer Tools menu .

Sidebar: the battery gauge is wildly inaccurate. Judge stuff by how long it actually lasts, not by how much the gauge shifts.

----

Sidebar²: If your FW is not up to date, or you're not booting via Nickel, that might be a factor. Nickel does a few bits of low-level shenanigans on startup, some of which might be power-management related on some devices.

Thank you, this makes great sense. Will keep investigating.

Given what NLuJe said, you may want to give FMon/Nicklemenu a go so you can start with Nickle before running KOReader.

I'm already starting through Nickel, so the battery usage might be within normal bounds, after all, as NiLuJe pointed out.

As a rule of thumb if your device lasts a couple of weeks everything's fine, if it's a few days then it may not be sleeping right.

The only thing that has a noticeable impact is wifi. Everything else is negligible. For anything else, just use whichever settings give you the most pleasant reading experience.
