Convert fixed-width to reflowable EPUB?

Forgive me, I'm a total newbie to this stuff.

I was given a fixed-width EPUB file generated by Adobe InDesign. I'm wondering if it's possible to use Calibre or anything else to convert it to a reflowable EPUB file.

Given that a epub3 fixed layout ebook uses absolute positioning for pretty much every glyph on the page, you would better off going back to InDesign and exporting the book as a reflowable epub.

You can do it by hand using the Calibre editor. It's a major hassle, but you an do it. Is it worth it? I would say no it's not worth it.

At this point I see two options: 1) Try to get the book designer to export the file from Adobe InDesign as a reflowable EPUB instead of a fixed layout EPUB, or 2) Forget trying to use the InDesign EPUB and create a new EPUB from the original Word manuscript, using Calibre or Draft2Digital.

Either of those two would be much easier alternatives to trying to convert FLO to reflowable.
