Calibre Web OPDS auth
I've got a Calibre Web server which has OPDS but when I try to use OPDS against it through reverse proxy I get this error: "Authentication required for catalog. Please add a username and password."
If I use the same on my LAN with the IP to the server instead of using the reverse proxy it works perfectly. Any known fixes? |

Thread can be deleted - seems like I can't do it myself.
The solution was a configuration in Nginx and not related to KOreader. |

Your solution might be an answer for some other user with a similar issue.

IIRC, it's something along the lines of don't use digest auth, or... something. There's a couple of closed issues on GitHub about auth + Calibre.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm trying to do exactly what you did and having the same problem, with KOReader saying I need a username and password. I use SWAG as my reverse proxy on an unraid docker, which is very similar to the NGINX proxy service you are using. What was the solution you found? Thanks!

Make sure you're not using *digest* auth, but the legacy one whose name I forgot ;p [EDIT: basic?].
Which is probably what the OP meant by "it's a proxy config setting". (Because we don't support HTTP digest authentication, and the error reporting may be less than stellar in that case). |

I know this is old but since I jsut got this running myself recently, for anyone finding this on google or reddit:
Make sure "allow auth over reverse proxy" is enabled in calibre-web admin settings. |
