What fields are relevant for the 'Download metadata' feature?

When opening 'Edit metadata', you can click 'Download metadata'.

For as far I understand (and could find in explanations), that function will look at the fields 'Title' and 'Author(s)' to find matches.

But doing some tests, it looks like the results also depend on what is in the field 'Ids'.

So my question is:
What fields in that panel are relevant for the 'download metadata' feature?

So is it: 'Title', 'Author' and 'Ids', or do the other fields such as 'Publisher' and 'Language' also have an influence on the returned results?

If I recall correctly, it tries to use any identifiers first, and then falls back to title/author.

Thanks, so these are the only three fields that are relevant, and I don't have to worry about the other fields in that panel?

In general, metadata source plugins will take the first of the following that retrieves a book:

Use the existing identifier for the site.
Use some other identifier if the site supports it (Goodreads can use ASIN).
Use the existing ISBN, if the site supports ISBN search.
Using the title and author.
Use just the title.

Exactly which of the above is used, depends on the metadata source plugin. For Goodreads, all except the last is done.

The plugins may check the title and author against the results. It depends on how the results are presented by the site.
