Missing letters

Hi there. Can anyone help me? I have a kindle paperwhite 3 device. I convert a lot of books with the "Caliber" program. I always update and convert books a few months badly. I don't know what setting I should choose. I usually convert a pdf file to a mobi file. The mistake is that in the text if these two letters are next to each other "fi", it will not print. Does anyone know what I should set? I read in Hungarian. My English is pretty weak. Please help. Thanks in advance.

What's this Caliber program a number of others are going on about?

PDF is a terrible format to convert from. It requires a lot of cleaning up to get it readable. IMHO, it's not worth the effort to convert PDF to anything else. The problems you are having is because you are using PDF to convert from.

The keyword is ligatures. But your real problem is you started with PDF, probably the worst conversion SOURCE type.

Mobi is also a terrible format as it is old and obsolete. Try converting to KF8 (AZW3) and see if you get better results. Though if if you do get a better result, it may still be a mess.

You will always have problems if you start with PDF.
PDF is a 'paste up' format. take paragraph strips of the document, now place them where the belong on a page. There is no set order because they are placed by location. Pictures tend to really get misplaced in conversion..
