[GUI Plugin]Clean Comments

This plugin allow you to remove all the html tags in the comment field, converting it in plain text. It works only with the standard comment metadata, not custom fields.

Special Notes:

Requires calibre 2.0 or later.

Installation Steps:

Download the attached zip file and install the plugin/restart Calibre/add to context menu or toolbar as described in the Introduction to plugins thread.

Thank you for this update to Python 3 and the offered options.

I note the following change.
- The previous versions used the tag which was very useful.
- This new one does not use it anymore and replaces it by the tags , which invariably generate line breaks. To avoid these unwanted line breaks, the only way I have is to edit html code and replace the tags by .

Could you please reintroduce the tags ?

I'll check but I suspect that the change is not in the plugin but in the comments editor itself.

Here's another quick update for calibre v6/Qt6 to remove another set of errors from the debug log. Again, it is just replacing the common_utils.py with one that has been updated.

I found an issue with this plugin that was breaking the loading of user template functions. This is discussed in https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=347818.

The issue is that the plugin was reloading the database when it was initialised or the library was changed. When I looked at the code, this was not needed in the two places it was done. And in the place where the database was needed, it was using the current database instance correctly.

I have attached an update beta of the plugin that fixes this. I haven't done much testing of the plugins function, but, it seems to work.

hi, why i did'nt find this plugin directely in Calibre with plugin option ?
Your last version (1.1) is still compatible with calibre 6.23 ?
