Can you see your Kindle from File Explorer? Is this a eInk Kindle or a Kindle Fire tablet?

calibre does not detect my e kindle
You asked me these 2 questions: Can you see your Kindle from File Explorer? Is this a eInk Kindle or a Kindle Fire tablet?
I am not very techie so I am not sure what you mean by Kindle from file explorer. By eInk do you mean e reader? This is the one I have |

If your user stats are current, you have a paperwhite (but what year/release. they are slighly different. Amazon help has an Identify my model guide if you need it)
Windows Explorer: is the way you normally find files on your PC. If your Kindle is detected: it will appear on the list (This PC) |

can't find kindle
I bought my kindle in 2017. It is firmware version 5.12.4
I tried finding the kindle on the PC and it is not listed under devices. Amazon told me it was recognized because when I plugged the kindle into my computer, the light lit up on the kindle. This notion was also confirmed by another technician. I am thinking of buying a new kindle. Are people having problems connecting to calibre with the newest kindles paperwhites? |

What theducks said. That LED will come on if you plug into a charger never mind a computer.
Have you tried a different USB port or USB cable? Basically, if Windows is not mounting your Kindle as a drive, there's no chance that calibre will see it. |

Also, try a different computer if it's still not working when you try different cables and different USB ports.
And one thing, you are running a 64-bit Windows. So you should be using a 64-bit version of Calibre. |

kindle not recognized
Thank you all for your suggestions. I have already tried most of them to no avail. I have been on the phone with Amazon and Cox tech support also.
My problem is that I have used this software for years with no problem. I just bought a new kindle. I will see if that makes a difference. thanks again to all of you, Andrea |
