Kindle Oasis3 indexing all books again
I uploaded my library to my new Oasis3 when I bought it a week and a bit ago, and it did the usual indexing thing, which given it was 2500 books, took a couple of days. I then plugged it into Calibre and added several books today, unplugged it and noticed more power drain than one would expect. Went to check and it's now indexing all the books on the device again. I don't understand why it's doing this, and means I have to wait until it's finished before I can use it properly again.

It could be stuck indexing.

I don't think so. It finished indexing my library when first added; I checked by searching a nonsense string of letters in the search bar, pressed enter and the 'Text in Books' option was greyed out after it finished. This indexing just started today.

What firmware are you running? If it's 5.13.2, when did you update?

A Kobo ereader imports books to it's database (author, title, series, TOC, etc.) but it does not add every word in the book to make it searchable.

Kindles have global search. You can search for a word or phrase across your whole library, not only within a single book.

Mine did a double index right after I bought it too. I'm not sure why. It never happened again.

If it doesn't keep happening, I'd chalk it up to "software is weird/haunted" and move on.
