Ok, I have a bit of a long question and wonder if anyone else has come up with a better workaround. I'm an active user of pocket whenever I can and it works for 90% of the news and websites I typically read from. However, there are a couple of sites that pocket just can't or won't parse into a readable format. The athletic being one of those. I know calibre has recipes, but some sites RSS feeds only provide only titles and not the whole articles. It's way beyond my nonexitent coding abilities to even begin to figure out how to build a custom one.
So... what I've done is use an extension that downloads websites into an epub file --> use calibre to edit and add cover --> convert to keub (to remove annoying page numbers that overlay text) --> upload to dropbox and rename file --> Download to ereader. Sometimes Is kepuify instead of calibre if I'm on a work computer, my personal PC is a chromebook and if I'm going to linux kepubify I might as well use calibre and swap covers. It works but it's clunky. Is there something I'm missing to simplify this whole process? Is there an extension that creates epubs without embedded page numbers? |

I think that You have enabled in Your Kobo the Adobe page number that can disabled in the setting - reading setting. It is shown only in Epub, not in Kepub.
I don't know the exact English words because my Kobo is in in Italian but You can easily find it. |

There's a setting on the Kobo which lets you get rid of the page numbers. Go to reading settings. Under 'Page appearance' you'll see an option: "Show Adobe EPUB page numbers". If you uncheck that option, you will no longer see page numbers in the right-hand margin. |
