epub to mobi or AZW3?
Hello,
I'm going to upload a book to Amazon market. Now I've got an epub version. Is it better to convert it into mobi or AZW3?

This is the first time, when I'll do the convertion. Should I gain any knowledge before the process or just go with default Calibre settings?

Do not upload a MOBI or AZW3 file produced via calibre to Amazon. They are fine for individual readers but lack content needed for a properly published book on Amazon.

Upload the EPUB to Amazon. Verify how it will look first using Amazon's Kindle Previewer.

Exactly.

If you feel more comfortable uploading a MOBI you can use Amazon's Kindlegen. On Windows it's a DOS program. It produces a MOBI that contains the book in three formats; MOBI, EPUB, and AZW. And Amazon uses the EPUB that's in it.

Have EPUB3 that I viewed with Calibre ebook viewer. Formating, font sizes, endnote popups all work. When use Calibre to convert to AZW3, formatting changes, font sizes change, graphics are more than 50% smaller and endnotes don't popup. Guidance please.

Calibre has many conversion options that can change the formatting of a book.

I uploaded an EPUB3 directly to Amazon without conversion, viewed it in KindlePreviewer 3 where everything worked (formatting, fonts, footnote popups). Previewed the uploaded file in Amazon's online previewer, no formatting, no fonts, no popups.
