				Identifiers Amazon, mobi-asin, asin

I noticed that some of the books I have (mobi formats) have a long guid type number for the mobi-asin number.

Calibre identifies this as an Amazon id, when I click on the number in the details it leads to an "oops" Amazon page. What are these id's and should I clean them out and replace them with the standard Amazon asin numbers? |

This is my understanding of what the different identifiers mean. I am curious to see other's posts.

asin: I believe that this is deprecated in calibre, replaced by "amazon". amazon: The ASIN value for a book at amazon.com. There are variants for other other Amazon websites. For example amazon_uk refers to a book at amazon.co.uk. mobi-asin: The ASIN value contained within an e-book file. This includes the "fake" ASIN values generated by calibre that are actually UUIDs. I know that if I import a book directly from my Kindle for PC then the mobi-asin is always the same as the asin, UNLESS it is a .mobi file, then it often has that long UUID type number.

I know that clicking on the id doesn't take me anywhere useful. |
