Change Kindle Oasis Serial Number

Hi, is it possible to change the serial number of my Kindle Oasis?
My Kindle Oasis has had touch issues and I sent in for repair and received a replacement from Amazon although when I try to register it I get the "Internal Error" message, the serial number doesn't match with my old one... Amazon is asking me to send it in again so they could troubleshoot the issue, that would mean I'd have additional ~3 weeks to have it repaired/replaced once again.

I believe its an issue with the serial number, I made quite a lot of research and the "Internal Error" message is indicative of an already registered device.

My question is, how could I possibly change the serial number of my replaced Kindle Oasis to my older one? I use my Kindle almost everyday hence the urgency, if anyone could help I would truly appreciate it.

This is why I have a backup Kindle (OK, I have over a dozen backups, but I'm a gadget hound). Here's the problem - if you fix it, it is no longer under warranty.

It seems extremely likely that "Internal Error" could be caused by quite a few conditions other than trying to register a registered device.

If you paid for the replacement without any special deal, you should be able to return it for a refund and buy a different one from amazon or anyone else.

I reside outside the US and it took close to 3 weeks to receive my replacement, I'm comfortable with taking the risk and I'm quite certain changing the serial number back to my old device would fix this issue.

Is there an easy way of doing that? Any guides or steps on how to do it? Please advise.

I didn't pay for the replacement, I sent my Kindle Oasis for repair and they sent me a "replacement" which I assume was a refurbished Kindle Oasis.

How do we know that you are not trying to bypass a blacklisted device. We have no proof this is not what's happening. If this is a legit Kindle and you really have this error, then you'll have to contact Amazon to get them to sort it out. Nobody here is going to help you change the serial number even if it was possible.

I could show you the invoice for my Kindle Oasis order from Amazon in a private message, is it even possible to change the serial number?

I don't know if there is a way to change the serial number.

I do suggest you call Amazon and see what they have to say.

Amazon doesn’t repair Kindles. They replace devices under warranty, and most likely want the the non-working one returned to them. But “repair” isn’t part of the deal.

Books are tied to your account, not a specific device. A device correctly registered to the account that holds the books would be able to download those books, unless device-book compatibility was an issue.

Books copied to the device incorrectly would pull a DRM error, not an “internal” error.

If you sent your old Kindle in to Amazon then they either destroyed it and likely banned its serial number or they are going to refurbish it and send it to someone else in which case your new device having the same serial number would be very problematic. Either way what you want to do is a very bad idea.

Why is it a bad idea? aren't you capable of changing serial etc when you jailbreak a Kindle?
If anyone knows a way of doing it please message me I'd be more than glad to leave you a tip through Paypal for your time.

Maybe I'm confused but can't the OP just register the replacement Kindle as a new one? Like you do when you buy a Kindle. And tell Amazon to un/deregister the failed Kindle. And make the replacement Kindle the default Kindle. Then he could download all of his books from the Amazon page.

Because that serial is either blacklisted by Amazon or it is in use by the person who receives your old, refurbished device.

Not all kindles are the same, even not all "oases" are the same.

What are the first 8 characters of the serial number?
