Use Glo HD's screen on Clara HD?
My clara's screen got broken about 1 month ago. And I've been looking for a replacement since then.
I found that the screen used on Glo HD(ED060KG1(LF)) was quite similar to the one on Clara(ED060KH6), while later one has an extra cable ( it's probably not called cable, I apologize for my poor English), since the only 2 cables on ED060KG1 looks same to those on ED060KH6, I wonder if it will work on clara? The older screen costs around 40 bucks, so it's not a good choice for me to perform such a risky experiment. So I'm looking for help here... Thank you |

That probably won't work. The actual screen might be OK, but the Glo HD uses IR touch and the Clara HD uses capacitive touch. The touch is probably what the third cable is for. The other two are for the light (at the bottom in the picture) and the actual screen (on the right side in both pictures).

Thank you! Since the actual screen seems glued on a metal board, I suppose I can't replace the actual screen?

That's why I'm looking for alternative methods, but looks like it's impossible. Hope the replacements will appear soon, since Kobo is making soldered rom on their new products, a clara with 32g/64g sd card is a pretty good choice for reading manga. |

Oldish thread, but did you find a replacement screen @RuBisC0?
Mine's not even a year old, I've been using the official hard cover and I just kept it in my pocket for a bit, but that was apparently enough to break the screen. Not too fussed about the build quality to be honest. So has anyone found a decent replacement screen for this one? |

I should add that the Kobo customer service was extremely unhelpful, when I asked about it. Guess I'm out of luck, noone seems to have found anything, at a reasonable price anyway.

Right. It's not like I asked them to send me a new screen. If I ask about the availability of parts or repair of a device, then it would still be nice to get more than "yeah, we don't do that, anything else?".
Anyway, case closed for me, for now. |

Even Amazon would say the same thing as they don't do that either.

It would be nice sure. But it’s beyond what customer service is designed to be. As Jon noted Amazon would give you the same answer. They’re there to help you use the device and to offer authorized repair/replace options. Not to list part suppliers.
