Custom Screen Saver?

Hi there:

I've seen some posts on this, but can't find what might work for me. I have a Kobo Libra H2O.

This is exceedingly geeky, but I thought it would be cool to design a bookplate to show when my kobo is asleep. Basically, I just want it to show an image of my choosing when the reader is asleep. Somewhere I saw that this could be done by adding a folder to the root of the kobo device called "screensaver" and adding an image. This didn't work for me, the image just came in as a book.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

The directory screensaver goes in the .kobo directory not the root. You will also need to, under Energy saving and privacy, check Show current read and Show book covers full screen (I think Show info panel and Indicator light are don't cares). Not sure if you need to do a power cycle after this but it might help.

Ok. Maybe I don’t know the difference. I’m on a Mac. When I plug in the device in the finder I see a list of author names. I created a file here called “fonts” to install custom fonts, and that worked. I don’t see .kobo. Suggestions?

By default Mac does not show files or folders that start with a dot.

I believe that in finder you need to press Command+Shift+Dot and then "hidden" files and folders will be displayed

True for almost any OS not Windows.

Spoiler:
Files ending in a ~ may also be hidden on some OS (usually means backup) Windows naming conventions started with DOS which was a copy of 1970s CP/M for the 8080 cpu. MacOS (after Version 9) is based on NextStep which was based on BSD which is an earlier "fork" of UNIX than Linux. Kobo, Kindle, Android are all using variations or parts of "Linux". Strictly Linux is only the Kernel and the rest is GNU.

I don't mean to quibble but the O/S is not hiding files; the application is.

PeterT was correct about how to show the files/directories whose name starts with a . which Apple happily uses rather often by using the CMD + SHIFT + . keyboard shortcut.

I would also recommend creating a directory ( I use one called ELib) to store your ebooks while reducing the clutter in your Kobo's root directory.
