Book Cover is over-riding first page graphic

Hey,

I am publishing an Epub book on Amazon Kindle and have made the conversion in Calibre and debugged.

However, here is my problem:

I have inserted a B&W image of the Book Cover on the first page of my Word docx manuscript and after Epub conversion when I preview the book in Kindle Preview3 the actual Book Cover appears and the B&W first page image does not show up.

Suggestions?

You need something (a page) in front, Usually the TOC
In the case of no cover, Calibre usually declares the first image page, the cover
The you add (or Kindle adds) a cover, which replaces your Titlepage

I added a simple title page in front but Epub debug then flagged the second page graphic image as an error.

Is the second page still tagged as a cover?

Epub seems to target the Jpg. image and designate it as the cover image.

Interestingly, I deleted the title page image and Epub pulled up my Author image on the last page of the book and showed it in the cover thumbnail.

See screenshot clicking the check box indicated calibre will use the first image as the cover.
