Likebook Ares: Error communicating with device
I have had this device for about two months and so far did not experience any trouble with it talking to Calibre. Now, out of a sudden, it stops working, every attempt ending with this dreaded error message. The details are as follows:

Failed to upload file named: driveinfo.calibre to (u'Internal storage',): 2:PTP Layer error 2002: send_file_object_info(): Could not send object info.
2:Error 2002: PTP General Error

This is on calibre 4.12.0. Neither the device nor calibre where upgraded recently and there are now other changes either, except that I have been reading on the device.

I tried the obvious things like rebooting the device, the computer, I even removed the calibre device and metadata files because they might have been corrupted, but there is no way getting around this.

Any advice on how to proceed here is appreciated,

Can you switch it (USB: Connect as) to MTP or disc mode?

Where do you configure USB:Connect as? I can't find a setting for that...

Sorry, I don't know where in Settings.
I have had some Android ask me, but that was a long time ago.
PTP is common for Cameras

When I connect: The Device menu (pulls down from top) say USB: file transfer. TAP for settings

That's a device error. You can try resetting the device, it might help.

Uh, oh, I was hoping to avoid that...

I wish I could find out what could cause this kind of error.
