Firmware 4.20.14617 has been released
A relatively minor bugfix update from 4.20.14601

The fixes that I am aware of:
  • PIN lock skip when powering on
  • PDF zoom level lost when turning page
  • CYMK jpgs not displaying

Firmware 4.20.14617 has been released
Release notes read the same as the earlier 4.20.xx release so I imagine this is minor bug fixes.

No I don’t know what bugs.

Just installed on my backup Forma

Oh no, not a tiny release...

...but it might be worth it if it fixed the highlighting bug (I'll check that later).

I might do patches in a day or two, but it's not a priority for me right now since this is such a small release.

Update: The highlighting bug has been fixed!

When you make a selection and drag up/down on it, it would trigger the menus and cancel the highlight.

I'm not sure how Kovid's or David's Calibre Kobo Utilities Firmware checker & loader works. It never seems to indicate which FW is going to get installed. It did update my Original H2O to 4.20.14601 a few days ago.

At least this isn't a patch to Internet Routers released without testing late on a Friday night at the same time as a patch to cloud web servers.

Drag what? I made plenty of annotations with 4.20.14601 with no issues when I tried to change the selection later. I put my Aura H2O back to 4.20.14601 see if I can see what was happening. I can't find any way to break it.

The firmware check in my Kobo Utilities uses the same rules for checking that the firmware does. There is an option in the configuration to use a different affiliate that usually gets the firmware early.

And it shows how long since I last used the check. The file name parsing I'm doing to get the version number is assuming a single digit for each part of the version. I'll fix it.

When posting a new thread on a new firmware, the first person to post really should post the links for the new firmware.

Kobo Firmware 4.20.14617

Kobo firmware 4.20.14617 has been released. As of March 13, 2020, it has been released to the Kobo Touch A/B, Kobo Touch C, Kobo Glo, Kobo Glo HD, Kobo Touch 2.0, Kobo Aura, Kobo Aura HD, Kobo Aura H2O, Kobo Aura H2O Edition 2 v1, Kobo Aura H2O Edition 2 v2, Kobo Aura ONE, Kobo Aura ONE Limited Edition, Kobo Aura Edition 2 v1, Kobo Aura Edition 2 v2, Kobo Clara HD, Kobo Forma, and the Kobo Libra H2O. It has not been released to the Kobo Mini. The affiliates used to check these firmware versions were: kobo, bestbuyca, fnac, beta, rakutenbooks, and the walmartca.

Ok, so I tested this issue a bit more, and I can't seem to reproduce it on my Clara. I think it's either due to the touch accuracy on the Aura2 (it seems to be different with every update and is always ~1cm off on the edges of the screen, as if it was manually calibrated incorrectly) or a book-induced issue (one of the books I was reading had a lot of elements, sometimes with unusual styling like floats and so on).

I must say I was impressed by the speed of the CYMK fix. I was reading a library book in kepub format and was seeing a lot of blank spaces where images should be. The images showed up fine in the Kobo app and Libby.

Very quickly a fix was provided and then a further one created that ensured ePubs were also fixed.

Perhaps best to wait till Monday evening or even next Thursday unless either of the last two FW broke something.

I didn't update my Libra yet from 4.19.14123, though I did update my Original H2O to 4.20.14601 and just did one test annotation.
