Just one more question :-)

It's possible to get the Ebookwise with 64 Mb internal memory or with a 64 Mb Smart Media card.

Which is best?

I don't think anyone knows. No one has reported actually purchasing the 64 Mb yet. It is very new. Hopefully it will still have the SMC card slot for expansion. It is likely they will work the same. When you add an expansion card it replaces the internal memory anyway.

It could be nice to have the internal 64M. Then if you have an expansion you could just remove the card to get the internal memory and initially you save 4 bucks.

Note if you buy the one with the external card you also have 8 Meg internal so you get 72 Meg but you have to unplug the memory card to see the internal.

don't know

I would think that the 64mb memory internally would be nice, because then you would not have to worry about losing the smart card.
Or breaking the smart card. My brother has managed to mangle a few of his digital camera's cards, and I had a co-worker that went through those little media cards like mad, they really don't seem to stand up to being removed very frequently.

I have the old eb 1150, with the small memory, but it works fine with me, I have not had the need to load more than a couple of books on the machine at a time. Yeah being able to have 50 books on it would be nice, but truthyfully? Its not necassary, I suppose if I was going to be away from my computer for months then it would be a must have.

I have a ton of books loaded onto the 64mb card version. I could go on vacation for about 6 months and not need to worry about finding something else to read.

Card version IMO is better as you can then use your card reader (if it supports the format) for quicker loading / unloading of a ton of books.

Normally IMPServe is fine, but if I'm moving an entire series of books (Just purchased waaaaay to many on a fictionwise sale) I prefer to pop the card into the PC and copy that way.

Good point! Having access to those ebooks on the external card allows you to access them in their .RES format.

EBook-tools by AZed (Zed Pobre) will soon allow the manipulation of .imp files and having access to the ebook in .RES or .IMP will be a pre-requisite.

Since the EBW1150 cannot be mounted as a USB drive, getting to your ebooks may prove problematic if you have only a 64MB internal memory version (unless you have a backup copy of the .imp or original format version). This only is truly a problem if, like me, you "want" to be able to hack/probe/experiment with your hardware. Some might just want to read with it, and for those this isn't a big deal.

Food for thought.

p.s. Perhaps Impserve's ashkulz can add retrieving ebooks from the EBW1150 as well as serving it content...

I think I'll be getting the card version. If the card goes bust, I can get a new one.
Not so for the internal memory.

Thanks,

Simon
