Fictionwise Sale

For anyone interested, Fictionwise seems to be having a sale now. Most of the books I saw were almost 50% off when you pay by credit card.

Thanksgiving Sale: 40% Micropay Rebates on 53,000+ eBooks
Thanksgiving is celebrated this week in the United States. The day after Thanksgiving is called "Black Friday" – it is the traditional start of the holiday buying season and is typically the busiest retail shopping day of the year. But we’re not waiting at Fictionwise! We're kicking things off early with a massive sale: buy now and receive 40% Micropay Rebates on every title (when making a credit card purchase). This sale runs through Sunday, November 31 and WILL NOT be extended. You will not be seeing anything else like it this year, so take advantage of this special now!
Good timing if you still have stuff in your wishlist for the wishlist sale, since they seem to stack.

Since there is no scheduled November 31 to fall on a Sunday for... well ever, I do not see the sense of urgency.

Bah, I just spent my budget.

Their sales seem designed to irritate... first there was the wishlist sale that favoured people who use wishlists (I use it for books that aren't available in a format I can use, but that I want to keep an eye on in case the publisher has an attack of common sense), then two days after I spend my budget they have another sale.

I'm Especially irritated as I just bought over a $100 in microcredit to purchase things on my Wishlist.

Basicly means that I'm probably not going to buy much Microcredit in larger amounts in the future, despite the extra 10-15% you get for the larger transaction.

What good is a sale if Fictionwise don't have the new eBooks I want? One of them is just out and is only available in Mobipocket from BooksOnBoard. it is available from Sony though. And the other is in all the standard formats. But both do not exist at Fictionwise.

One is Pagan Stone from Nora Roberts
And the other is Star Trek: Destiny: Lost Souls by David Mack.

It's a smame that Fictionwise is falling down on the job as far as new eBooks go.

Yep, I was looking for the Star Trek title as well.

Same thing happened to me. I was looking for a book that exists everywhere in mobipocket format... except on fictionwise. I sent them a mail to ask for that format, but so far, Blade of Tyshalle is only available as a .lit or secure ereader.

Funnily enough, I just wrote a week or so back to Fictionwise asking if there was any chance a Kim Stanley Robinson book would become available in mobi format as well as the other formats they already sold it in. They wrote back suggesting I'd be better off writing to the publishers and asking them to release it in mobipocket format ... and I wrote back saying it already *was*, just not at Fictionwise. Never got a reply to that, unfortunately.

That book is not available in MobiPocket ANYWHERE that I can find (FW, BoB, MP, Kindle). So Fictionwise isn't doing anything wrong.

Usually when something is missing like this, it just isn't available. Sometimes it is missing because FW can't offer it for the same price in all formats, so they only offer the cheaper ones. And rarely it is an oversight.

Doesn't hurt to bug FW about it each time you see it. Also bug the publisher.

But it is so easy to take a LIT file, strip the DRM, explode it's component parts and create a Mobipocket edition from there.

The reason I am looking to Star Trek: Destiny: Lost Souls from Fictionwise is that I have enough of a micropay account to be able to purchase it at the club price without having to spend any cash. And while BooksOnBoard, Sony, Amazon, and some other shops have this in eBook format, Fictionwise does not. It seems to be only available in Mobipocket outside of Amazon & Sony. So whatever the problem Fictionwise is/ewas having with Mobipocket, seems they still are.

True, but I have a mac, and there's no stripping software for the mac - yet.
