Can't Figure Out How to Load Books into Library from Kindle
I recently got a new computer and installed the newest Calibre for Win 10. I tried to load my books from my Kindle Keyboard (old, I know but worked in old computer). The following came up:
Your Calibre library is currently located at C:\Users\book\Calibre Library New Location: _____________________ Use previously existing library at new location? Create empty library at new location? Move current library to new location? I'm not very computer literate and tried each one and it told me it wasn't valid, so I made up a folder, first putting it directly in Calibre and then in just the Users folder and it still says not valid, folder doesn't exist. If I have to show a new location, which one of the above would I pick and where would I put the new folder? in C:? in Calibre somewhere, if so, where? What would be the path and name? I'm so frustrated. In the old computer I just loaded them and that was that. Sorry for all the questions and thanks for the help. Sally ![]() |

That isn't what you want to do.
The first step is to create a library in calibre. But, calibre will create one when it is first started. That is OK for most users. If you want to put the library somewhere else, then you simply create that directory and selecting it in the prompt. To get the books from the Kindle to the calibre library, you need to start calibre and connect the device. Calibre will run some jobs and read the list of books from the device. The toolbar will change to have some buttons for the device. Click the one for the Kindle. This displays the device list. That should show all the books on the device. Select and right click on them. Then select the option to copy the books to the library (I can't remember exactly what it is called). This will then copy any books it can to your calibre library. It will probably not copy books with DRM. They will need to have the DRM removal plugin installed, but, even then, I'm not sure if they can be copied. |
