ODT--->EPUB/MOBI
After disastrous experience of some Calibre users who ventured into the uncharted v.4 I am still reluctant to move on and I'm staying with v 3.48.
But... A question to the brave ones, who have experience with v. 4+ Is new Calibre supporting conversion from ODT to other formats? |

What Disaster?
![]() What we have are a bunch of folk who dislike the new Look and Feel of the viewer. Some of the issues were addressed. Some can't be done (easily. As Kovid says: Patches welcome.) As far as the rest of the features. No change. So Conversion is pretty much what it was in 3.48 The main change was because the code base for the visual aspect of Calibre was not being maintained, forcing a changeover. |

If you're on Windows, install the portable version of Calibre ànd take a look.

I've done many odt->epub conversions, including on 4.x. Works very well, no changes in that area.

Just install Calibre 4.x and forget 3.48. I did so ad I find it works very well. It's not a disaster. I can understand waiting a few versions to have bugs fixed. Well, it's at that point where waiting is over and it's time to go for it. In most cases, you would not notice a difference.
So please stop listening to the whiners who have been whining because the viewer didn't originally have a toolbar. Just because they were whining does not mean Calibre 4.x is a disaster. That's 100% false. I congratulate Kovid on the wonderful job he's done in going from 3.48 to 4.5. |

Or you can listen to "other" people whine about the whiners. Either way, it's a lose/lose situation for those of us who just wanted to read some new posts.
