I wonder which should I get.
A ereader like boyue likebook mars or a tablet like amazon fire hd 10.
Which do you recommend and why?

My purpose is to read ebooks and pdfs.
I want long battery life and high external storage, both seems to have that.

The Likebook Mars will give you a much longer battery life. I prefer eink for reading. So much so that I didn't read since Thursday, because my reader was smashed and I couldn't stand reading on my tablet for longer than an hour. But it is totally possible this is because I've been using eink readers for about a decade now and am so used to it.

I like my tablet to quickly check mails or google stuff but not for longer reading sessions. I get a headache if I use it for too long.

Others do love to read on their tablets, this is a very personal thing and in the end, no one will make that decision for you. Given the extended return period with Amazon before Christmas, why don't you give the tablet a try and see how you like it.
